Dress Form Mannequins

A dress form mannequin is a tool used by tailors to represent a human body when they are creating new clothing. Tailors will use this as a physical model for a man or woman for the neck, chest, and lower parts of an abdomen this often makes it easier for a tailor to gauge how a garment will fit on a man or woman. Dress forms can be attached to a tripod on wheels to make it easier to work with not to mention the variations between a male and female dress form. These mannequins will also come in different shapes and sizes depending on the body type the designer has in mind.

Pinnable mannequins come in two forms fully pinnable and partially pinnable. This means that the mannequin is covered completely or partially by fabric and foam that tailors use to model their designs while working. A fully pinnable mannequin is made to be used over and over again and have thicker sections of foam and fabric and can have needles inserted almost anywhere. A partially pinnable mannequin is less flexible as it is covered in thinner fabric and only allow for pins to be inserted at certain points.

According to the shop company, a classic is a cheaper style mannequin is used to showcase the article of clothing so they are used by clothing stores as well as tailors. Since professional dress forms allow for greater flexibility in designing a garment they are more expensive and would not be found in a retail store.
